Chattanooga Has Fun 2.5

This 4th of July, the Chattanooga Market will host the Family Readiness Group (FRG) of Chattanooga, to collect items for our active US Army Reserve Unit 212 out of Chattanooga who are currently serving in Afghanistan. 

Stop by for old-fashioned burgers, hot-dogs and ice-cold beverages and help celebrate our independence by recognizing our servicemen who actively protect our nation. 

The FRG is a group that had early roots among Army families, who banded together during war or tours overseas or other isolated locations, to provide information, moral support, and social outlets to their members. The Army focused sharply on family readiness as a result.

Today, the FRG is an “organization of family members, volunteers, soldiers, and civilian employees belonging
to a unit/organization who together provide an avenue of mutual support and assistance and a and a network of communication among the members, the chain of command, and community resources.” Unit FRGs consist of all assigned and attached soldiers (married and single), their spouses and children. This membership is automatic, and participation is voluntary. Extended families, fiancées, boy/girlfriends, retirees, DA civilians, and even interested community members can and should be included as well.

This Sunday promises to be festive with live music, of course, plenty of fresh produce and the opportunity to really give thanks to those who protect our freedom and uphold our democracy!
