Chattanooga Has Fun 2.5

Chattanooga Parks and Rec announces a Free Youth Football Camp on Friday and Saturday, July 9th and 10th, at the Washington Hills Recreation Center. Current and former Pro players be here to work with children ages 6-18!

Philadelphia Eagles Jason Avant, Quintin Demps, King Dunlap Seattle Seahawks Justin Forsett, Jamar Adams Former Seahawks Koren Robinson, Marquise Weeks and Trainer Greg Pease will be in Chattanooga to provide a fun football camp for youth ages 6 – 18 Friday, July 9th and Saturday, July 10th at the Washington Hills Recreation Center located at 4628 Oakwood Drive.

Each year the City of Chattanooga Parks and Recreation Department and co-sponsors host a free football camp where local children get to work with NFL players, coaches, and trainers. Registration for each day is 8:00 to 9:00 am with the Training Camp from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. It is free and open to all area youth.

The camp sessions are divided into two age groups: Ages 6 through 12 on Friday and ages 13 through 18 on Saturday (9:00 am – 2:00 pm each day) and will include skills testing, workout and conditioning techniques, team practices, and play.

The summer Football Camp program started over 20 years ago as a way for professional players to inspire young players and “give back” to their home-town communities. The Chattanooga connection for this program began when the local family of UT graduates and NFL players Reggie and Raleigh McKenzie would sponsor youth from Washington Hills Recreation Center to attend the camp in Knoxville. As interest in this program grew, Facility Manager of Washington Hills Recreation Center, Dennis Leftwich, and the Washington Hills community brought the program, and the pros, to Chattanooga.

Co-sponsors for the event donate meals, refreshments, and awards.
