Children of Hangzhou: Connecting with China

January 14, 2012-May 13, 2012  – Upstairs Gallery

East meets West in Creative Discovery Museum’s newest exhibit, Children of Hangzhou: Connecting with China. This interactive exhibit will educate your child about one of the oldest civilizations through the eyes of some of its young people.

The Exhibit presents four Chinese children at home, at school, in the library, in the theatre and in the countryside. The Hangzhou young people will introduce themselves through media and the activities of their daily lives. Children of Hangzhou: Connecting with China will show your child that life in China is both similar to and different from life in North America and that we are more alike than different.

During the opening of the exhibit on Saturday, January 14, 2012, visitors will be able to experience calligraphy lessons, Chinese Dance and a Tai Ji performance. Scheduled Activities for the opening  include:

  • 11 a.m. to Noon - Calligraphy with Chris Campbell in the Atrium
  • 12:30 p.m. - Tai Ji martial arts demonstration in the Atrium
  • 1 p.m. - Chinese Calligraphy lesson in the Art Studio with Chris Campbell

This exciting exhibit will serve as a bridge to cross-cultural learning and will be open through May 13, 2012. School tours will also be available. All activities are included with paid admission to the Museum.
