Avatar in 3D

James Cameron’s AVATAR, is coming to the giant screen at the Tennessee Aquarium IMAX 3D Theater beginning on Friday, May 21st.

The IMAX 3D Theater has been requesting the film for months, but until now, we were not able to get a contract to show the film. Priority to show first-run films, such as Avatar, goes to the large theater chains that can show the film repeatedly on multiple screens throughout the day for the length of the film contract. These theater chains have the right to block other theaters in close proximity from showing these films.

Persistence has paid off, and the IMAX 3D Theater is now able to bring Avatar to Chattanooga’s largest screen. Excitement has been expressed on the Aquarium’s Facebook page where fans have posted comments such as, “This is super great – I had to go all the way to Chicago to see it in IMAX 3D – it really is a different experience, folks.” And “I’m Going. Definitely. Like best movie ever, in Imax 3D. No question about it.”

AVATAR: An IMAX 3D Experience opens Friday, May 21st and runs through June 17th.
