Catch a fun-filled boat ride on Chattanooga’s newest riverfront addition, The Fat Cat Ferry or the Chattanooga Water Taxi, docked at the City Pier at Ross’s Landing, only a block away from the Tennessee Aquarium. We now offer three boarding locations 1) The City Pier, 2) Coolidge Park and 3) The Passage generally leaving on the hour from the City Pier. The City Pier is just steps below the Tennessee Aquarium on the City Side.
Step aboard and enjoy the City’s $125,000,000 waterfront from a spectacular vantage point while we cross the TN River, just as John Ross ran his ferry in 1815 to reach his historic trading post on Chattanooga’s North Shore at our concessions dock facility at Coolidge Park. You may disembark at Chattanooga’s Coolidge Park, ride the Carousel, shop, have lunch and catch the next Ferry.
From Coolidge Park,we continue up River and around Maclellan Island. Our next stop is our dock facility at the Island, an 18-acre bird sanctuary featuring Great Blue Herons, Osprey and migrating Warblers. Explore the Island by walking its nature trail. A donation of $1 per person will be requested to support the Chattanooga Audubon Society’s local efforts should you choose this adventure.

My husband and I have a Chattanooga Area Convention and Vistors Bureau VIP PASS and we would like to do the Fat Cat Ferry on Mon. July 4th, 2011. I’ve tried calling this number (423-756-5060) for availablity for mon. July 4th, but it gives me 3 other numbers to choose from. Just want to know if there is another number or wait till we get there. Thank you and have a great week!
Hello! Thank you for contacting Chattanooga Has Fun. Unfortunately, all the phone numbers we could find, including the one that is listed on their website, would be the number as posted here.
You might want to contact the Delta Queen Hotel. They have been advertised locally in Chattanooga as a contact for the water taxi. The Delta Queen Riverboat is docked adjacent to the water taxi and Fat Cat ferry.
Call the Delta Queen Hotel at 423-468-4500. They sell water taxi tickets aboard the riverboat. I spoke with Julie today, and she quoted adult prices at $7.00 for adults, and $3.50 for children. The water taxi and Fat Cat Ferry are docked beside the Delta Queen. Please enjoy your visit to our beautiful city. Traditionally, there is a Concert in the Park (Riverfront) on July 3rd or 4th by our Chattanooga Symphony. I am assuming there will be one again this year.
