Chattanooga Bellydance Collective
6pm
Date: Sunday, July 11, 2010Time: 6:00pm – 7:30pmLocation: Coolidge ParkThe Chattanooga Bellydance Collective is an open-forum discussion picnic for those affiliated with the bellydance community in Chattanooga, or those that would like to be! It is important that each art form present a unified front to the public for the preservation of its integrity and education. Bellydance is one of the most misconstrued and misunderstood forms of dance expression. Thus, it becomes the responsibility of every bellydancer to serve as the custodian of the purity and meaning of our art form.
Students are encouraged to participate. Bring a blanket, picnic lunch, and topics to discuss…doumbek, zills and hula-hoops are welcomed!
It is imperative to the vitality of this art form in the Chattanooga area that each studio and troupe be represented. Please make every effort to attend. Your voice is so important to this collective art.

Grossology: The (Impolite) Science of the Human Body
It’s slimy, it’s noisy, it’s smelly, it’s bumpy, and it’s GROSS this summer at Creative Discovery Museum! Grossology: The (Impolite) Science of the Human Body will be the featured exhibit from May 29 – Sept. 6, 2010. With colorful, interactive displays and games, kids are sure to love learning about the body and how it functions. Based on the best-selling book, Grossology by science teacher Sylvia Branzei, this exhibit has been presented in major museums, science centers and theme parks.
Kids have plenty of questions about the human body that aren’t always appropriate to discuss around the dinner table. Grossology gives kids a fun environment to explore the answers to many of the slimy, oozy, crusty, stinky questions they love to ask about the human body.
Stepping through a giant mouth and tongue, visitors are introduced to the world of Grossology with a spectrum of bright exhibit areas to greet them. more »

Avatar in 3D
James Cameron’s AVATAR, is coming to the giant screen at the Tennessee Aquarium IMAX 3D Theater beginning on Friday, May 21st.
The IMAX 3D Theater has been requesting the film for months, but until now, we were not able to get a contract to show the film. Priority to show first-run films, such as Avatar, goes to the large theater chains that can show the film repeatedly on multiple screens throughout the day for the length of the film contract. These theater chains have the right to block other theaters in close proximity from showing these films.
Persistence has paid off, and the IMAX 3D Theater is now able to bring Avatar to Chattanooga’s largest screen. Excitement has been expressed on the Aquarium’s Facebook page where fans have posted comments such as, “This is super great – I had to go all the way to Chicago to see it in IMAX 3D more »
