When you step into Jimmy John’s at 973 Market Street, the second thing to greet you after the cool air and clean tile is the friendly staff, offering a cheery, “Welcome to Jimmy John’s!”

Owner Richard Pemble , who is also manager along with wife Marcella, believes that the restaurant fills an important niche in Chattanooga. Opening in April of this year, Jimmy John’s does one thing and does it well – sandwiches. Every sandwich is made with gourmet-quality, high-end meats, with fresh bread never more than a few hours old. And while Jimmy John’s loves all of its varied clientele, Pemble and his staff are excited about fall and the return of college students. After all, Pemble smiles, “Students and Jimmy John’s just go together.”

The menu takes a straightforward approach to dining using high-end ingredients, with new selections offered daily, ranging in price from $8-$10 at lunch and $16-$25 for dinner. Sweet Peppers Deli was an idea that was born from years of restaurant experience. To be sure, the franchise company is Sweet Peppers Franchise Systems, LLC, a Mississippi limited liability company — but it all started with Mom. You know, Mom always made the best food. Anyway, Myrrl Bean and her partner, Harvey, got together in the restaurant business in 1982. Then her sons John and Bernard joined the fledgling team, and things really started cooking. Myrrl’s inspiration and direction helped the Bean family grow their collective skills into a major force in restaurant development in Mississippi. They began with Harveys, an upscale traditional casual dining chain of three restaurants; and expanded to a group of nine restaurants. At Sweet Peppers, our food is the “star,” but we have a great supporting cast to work with you, and we’d like you to meet them personally.
